Antique’s getting there

By Pepin

Ten years ago, the province of Antique is often ignored. But now, after a huge effort by the government and its people, it is opening a different gateway towards progress for Western Visayas. The province is gaining more attention from investors and tourists.

San Jose, the center town of the province, already has the commodities that a tourist seeks – cozy accommodation, convenient shops, and delicious treats. The local government is putting a lot of effort to refurbish some infrastructures and land marks to make the town more popular. Small and medium enterprises are also flourishing; more businesses are soon to be established.

Other towns also have their own special indulgences. The town of Culasi, for instance, offer majestic beaches located at the islands of Malalison and Batbatan, while the town of Pandan provide guests with an extraordinary relaxation at Malumpati Cold Spring. The towns of Laua-an, Hamtic, and Barbaza are some of the stopovers to get some sugary delicacies like the bandi, bayi-bayi, and pinasugbo.

So if you want to discover something different this summer, Antique province might have everything that you are looking for.
