Get Accessorized this Summer

with Puka Shells!

By Pepin

Puka shells are some of the best grabs you can get from the paradise island of Boracay. These bead-like little objects are turned into bracelets, necklaces, and anklets. These popular accessories for beach get ups are sold for a very cheap price around the island.

If you want to go “puka shell picking” you can find a lot of these at Yapak Beach; just a few kilometers away from the main island of Boracay.

On Focus:
Municipality of Sapian, Capiz

Feast of the Black Nazarene (Photo Credit to http://sapiancapiz.weebly.com)

Sapian, a small municipality in the province of Capiz, has its own share of Spanish taste. The name itself was coined by Spaniards who came in the place about three centuries ago.

The town preserved its religious inheritance that until today, people are deeply involved in several activities of the church. The most popular occasion is the Feast of the Black Nazarene, which is celebrated every January 09. This festive event gathers devotees from other parts of the region.

But there is more to see in Sapian. There are themed parks that provide instant relief to stressed tourists, and delicious cravings that are sold at a very cheap price. Since the town is located in the seafood capital of the country, tourists can enjoy different kinds of grilled fish and shellfish on their plate.

There is even a Talahong Festival to celebrate a bountiful catch of oysters (talaba) and mussels (tahong). The festival is celebrated every month of May, which is a good way to end the summer season.
