Iloilo City will host the First Philippine International River Summit from May 30 to June 1, 2012. The three-day event, which is expected to be attended by more than 500 guests, will focus on the management and rehabilitation programs that the local government and several agencies are planning to implement to protect the river systems of the country.

The summit will also be discussing the latest development of the Iloilo River, which is considered as one of the most proactive river programs that a local government unit and partnering agencies have implemented.

Director Vicente Tuddao, Jr. of the DENR-River Basin Control Officer lauded Iloilo City and its government for taking the lead to sustain and maintain the river system. He hopes that it will be an example to other cities and municipalities as well.

Moreover, there will be an exhibit to be held at Eon Centennial Convention Center, which will highlight some projects that were already done to improve some of the river system of Western Visayas.

Major rivers in region that will be showcased in the said exhibit include the Panakuyan River in Ibajay, Aklan, Bugang River in Pandan, Antique, and Tigum-Aganan River in Iloilo.

People seek to be happy all the time, and most especially in the future. But many think that happiness comes with a price. In other words, it involves money.

But you do not need to spend to become happy. Simple thoughts of bliss when you wake up in the morning can already stir a happy feeling that you can consume throughout the day.

People who feel happy all the time say that the good vibe that you claim when you start your day attract more optimistic results in your workplace, school, and anywhere you want to spend your day at. It’s like a magnet that pulls positive energy towards you, and it will help you avoid stress, conflicts, and bad luck.  In addition, you remain “cool and vibrant” even during the most pressing period of your day.

As a result, when you have a happy vibe you can work properly and your mind and body coordination is going well. You are not only becoming productive at work or at school, but you are also doing yourself a favor by maintaining a healthy state of your mind.

To maintain a twenty-four hour happy momentum, here are some tips you can follow:
  1. Smile as you look at yourself in the mirror when you wake up or after bath
  2.  Greet people you meet and compliment them
  3. Think of happy memories when you are on your way to work or school
  4. Spend chit-chat time for jokes and suggestions to improve self and thought, rather than gossips
  5. Avoid talking negative opinions or remarks  about yourself and other people
  6. Treat mistakes as challenges, and avoid getting angry for not doing something properly
  7. Pamper yourself and your mind by taking a walk at nature-themed parks or at the beach
  8.  Be thankful for your day and think of happy thoughts before you go to sleep
