Mining: End it!

By Pepin

Mining is an activity that gives people the privilege to destroy the earth. Mining companies go beyond their limits and they are already annihilating the natural resources.

This activity cause a lot of peril in the lives of people. For instance, continuous mining can loosen the earth, which can lead to land slides when heavy rain comes. This incident already happened in several provinces in Region 6, where many people were buried in mud that rolled all the way down. There were also miners who were trapped and died while working inside the mining sites after the soil gave up underground.

In addition, it also affected water sources and endanger the natural habitat of some animals.  The once mineral-rich mountain is now empty and its resources are already depleted.

The government should do something about this issue. It should consider the safety of the people, and not the monetary reaps it can get from mining companies. Many lives are already in danger, and a strict rule should be implemented before another life will be spared.

San Jose, the center town of the province, already has the commodities that a tourist seeks – cozy accommodation, convenient shops, and delicious treats. The local government is putting a lot of effort to refurbish some infrastructures and land marks to make the town more popular. Small and medium enterprises are also flourishing; more businesses are soon to be established.

Other towns also have their own special indulgences. The town of Culasi, for instance, offer majestic beaches located at the islands of Malalison and Batbatan, while the town of Pandan provide guests with an extraordinary relaxation at Malumpati Cold Spring. The towns of Laua-an, Hamtic, and Barbaza are some of the stopovers to get some sugary delicacies like the bandi, bayi-bayi, and pinasugbo.

So if you want to discover something different this summer, Antique province might have everything that you are looking for.
