Despite being the center of trade and commerce in the Province of Capiz, many people believe that Roxas City is still way behind than other major cities in Western Visayas.

However, the national recognitions that it received proved that this modest little city that everyone thought is at an idle status can be as competitive as the big metropolises in the region.

Recently, it received the Presidential Award as the third Child-Friendly City in Region VI. This is one of the series of recognitions it bagged since 2010. Previously, it received the Best Public Employment Service Office in Western Visayas, the Red Orchid Award for intensive smoke-free campaign, and the Seal of Good Housekeeping for transparent and effective governance.

These awards and recognitions make Roxas City as one of the most competitive and pro-active cities, not only in the region, but also in the entire nation.
