In this year’s rigid
competition, Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School, managed to
add another “Dinagyang Champion” title under their name for the second time in
a row. They beat twelve other competing tribes that also showcased stunning
performances yesterday in the Ati-ati tribe competition.
The tribe also won several
special awards including Best in Performance and Best in Choreography. Tribu
Lunok of Iloilo City National High School came in second place and Tribu
Ilonganon in third.
Tribu Pan-ay will
represent Iloilo City and the Dinagyang Festival in the Aliwan Fiesta this
coming April at Metro Manila. Last year, they emerged as the grand champions in
the said competition, beating other festivals from other parts of the country. Dinagyang
Festival was also named as the “Queen Festival of the Philippines” in 2011 by
the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP).
